The fact is that if your identity is stolen and used by someone else your credit can be ruined for years to come. This is why it’s absolutely imperative that you protect your identity at all times. The problem is though that this isn’t as easy as it may seem at times.

Job Applications and Personal Information

For instance with jobs at a premium now and so may people out of work untold numbers of people are filling out work applications that all too often require that they divulge much of their personal identity information. Of course the basic job application today will require a copy of ones drivers license and a social security number.

Check your credit report to protect your identity

Protect Your Identity With Your Personal Credit Report

Who’s hands will all this personal information eventually fall into is anyones guess, but given that it is required for employment a certain measure of trust is required. Even so, it doesn’t hurt to trust yet verify and this is where a credit report comes in.

They Record All Attempts To Obtain Financing Or Credit Cards

A persons credit report will record each and every time someone has applied for credit, such as a credit card. In fact anything that someone will try to do to obtain any financing will be recorded on that persons credit report. There is simply no getting around this fact.

You Can Obtain Yours At Their Websites

Equifax, TransUnion and Experian are the three main credit reporting agencies operating in North America. By law, each one has to provide you with a free credit report on demand once per year. Also obtaining that report is as easy as going to their websites and applying for one that will be provided on the spot.

Protect Your Identity By Calling the Cops!

Go and get one and look it over carefully to check for any activity thats not yours. In fact this is something that you should do about every month or so. If you should ever spot any unauthorized attempts to obtain credit notify the the police immediately and then notify the source of the credit that has been applied for.
