Now I just got through reading an articles online outlining the pros and cons of identity protection services, versus doing it yourself. Of course it was posted by a “do it yourself website” that failed to mention that they too charge for their services but that’s really besides the point.

The real scary thing was that if a person didn’t know, he or she could find the article quite convincing. Hey! After all who doesn’t like to save money? And what money I could save too. The writer even noted that monthly fees can add up over a years time.

But then I started going back over all the points that were made one by one. For instance the suggestion that insurance protection identity theft protection services most likely wouldn’t really be needed because statistically the odds were that I would not be hit by an identity thief. I’m still not canceling my car insurance though.

Who Needs an Attorney Anyway?!

The article even pointed out that paying for an insurance plan that included the free services of an attorney was basically a waste of money. The point the writer made, was that the majority of identity theft cases are resolved without an attorney. Now that makes sense doesn’t it?

I suppose it’s the same thing with life vests and life boats on a cruise ship. Now how many times have you read about a cruise ship sinking? Not very often, if ever. Even so, I personally just like to see life vests and life boats on board any time I board a ship. I’m just funny that way.

What if You “Sort of” Need an Attorney?

The fact is that it is true that the majority of identity theft cases are resolved with out the services of an attorney. However; what the author fail to make note of was that those that did require an attorney, needed one real bad. You see life is funny that way. It’s just hard to imagine a scenario where a person “just sort of needs an attorney”.

Of course the article also failed to mention the people who ended up facing felony charges due to crimes that were committed by identity thieves. Identity thieves are after all criminals out committing crimes. No thanks! If I want to gamble, I think I’ll just go to a casino and do it.
